 Tri-Community Tourism Initiative
The Village of Rexton has partnered with the communities of Saint Louis and Richibucto in the creation of the Tri-Community Tourism Initiative. Whenever you see the Tri-Community logo, know that it is a main partner in the project in question!
Two of the first events organized through the Initiative are the British Car Days of New Brunswick and the Banner Festival. The British Car Days of New Brunswick show is held at the Bonar Law Common festival area in Rexton. You can view these beautiful automobiles up close at the Bonar Law Common all day on the Saturday of the event, or keep your eyes open for a peek as these vehicles tour throughout our region, all weekend long.
The Banner Festival is a joint effort of the communities; banners are displayed simultaneously throughout our three (3) communities from June to September. These banners are painted by local artists of all ages with a different them each year. This is a wonderful event to showcase local talent. Visitors and locals are asked to vote for their favorites within age groups/categories: Under 14, High school student and Adult.
In 2008, our first year, the Banner Festival was the recipient of the “Prix Racine” award for the “Initiative of the year in Cultural Development”, an award given by the Council of the Provincial Cultural Societies.
In only its third year, the Festival has crossed the Atlantic through a partnership with Chantilly, France. The Banner Festival of New Brunswick and the Banner Festival of Chantilly, France has exchanged 20 banners, which will be displayed in all our respective communities during the months of June through September. This is exciting for our local artists to have their banners displayed in France.
